Optional early arrival day for those on the Pre-Conference.
Tuesday, August 23
For participants registering for our Pre Plus Main Conferences – Pick up at airport and transfer to Geo Hotel in Grindavík for breakfast and a visit to the Blue Lagoon Spa, followed by lunch. After lunch, participants will have the opportunity to rest at the hotel before a late afternoon visit to Vikingaheimar, a museum devoted to Viking history. Dinner will be in Reykjavik.
Wednesday, August 24
Pre-Conference participants – Breakfast at the Geo Hotel followed by check-out. A coach will take participants into Reykjavik for an optional, independent mid day experience of self-guided touring and lunch. Maps will be provided. We then drive to Selfoss where we will check-in to the Hotel Selfoss and meet main conference participants. There will be an optional afternoon visit to the Icelandic Wonders museum.
Main Conference only – Pick up at airport, followed by a visit to the Fontana Spa, and lunch. Drive to Selfoss and check in to the Hotel Selfoss. Opportunity to rest or make an afternoon visit to the Icelandic Wonders museum.
The full conference will begin this evening with dinner and an orientation at Ingólfsskáli, a traditional Viking longhouse named after Ingólf Fire Wolf, the Viking founder of Iceland. All participants will spend the night at the Hotel Selfoss.
Thursday, August 25
After breakfast at Hotel Selfoss, we board our coaches for Þingvellir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located where two continental tectonic plates meet, and the site of the oldest existing parliament in the world.. After a guided meditation at nearby Dragon’s Field, we travel to Borgarnes. Here we will visit the Settlement Center, a museum that offers fascinating insights into the history of Icelandic settlement and the Saga era, and have lunch. Finally, we continue our journey to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, checking in to our lodging in and around Hellnar. After dinner at the hotel, we will meet for a cultural event.
Friday, August 26 – Sunday, August 28
Each of these conference days begins with breakfast at our hotels, followed by morning plenary sessions and lunch at the Hotel Hellnar. Optional afternoons activities will be offered, as well as a choice of workshops. Our dinners will take place at the Hotel Hellnar, and are followed by evenings of culture and celebration.
Monday, August 29
Our conference ends with a morning closing circle and boxed lunch. Participants will either continue on with one of our Post-Conference Journeys or travel by conference coach back to Reykjavik for flights home on August 30.
